This is easily one of my favorite books in the Dungeon Crawler Carl series so far: the chaos, the politics, the character moments, the humor, the brutality, and the bigger picture of what the crawl is doing to everyone involved.
The story is fantastic. The series has always had sharp writing, but this book has some of the best lines and most memorable moments in the entire series. There are quotes in this one that stick with you immediately. The ending is one of the best in the series; no spoilers, but I just sat there for a minute taking what I just heard in before immediately needing the next book.
And of course, the audio production is ridiculous. Jeff Hays continues to prove why he is the best in the business. His character work, emotional range, comedic timing, and ability to make complete insanity feel believable are unmatched. At this point, his performance is not just part of the audiobook; it is part of what makes this series so addictive.
Keep going. This is one of the ones that proves why the series is worth the obsession.
