I’m writing this review late, after finishing the entire DCC series up to this date (June 2026). Dropped off on writing as I tore through the books, which says a lot about the level of enjoyment I have had with them.

There is a fun series of movies called The Gamers by Dead Gentlemen (comedy group from Seattle area). The first movie is a shoestring budget and about D&D. 2nd movie bigger budget and still D&D. They are both gems, but only people in that hobby will appreciate them.

Then they come out with the 3rd, which pivots to be a card game like L5R with storylines and the movie is actually good enough to have non-gamers watch. It was a pivot, but it worked.

The card system in EotBB is really weird and nonsense and fun bringing us characters that poke at a lot of things in the real world. It is massively nonsense at times, but as it goes on it gets more and more serious and really works at what it is doing. A fun romp and when it gets serious, it gets pretty freaking serious which is some of the best stuff paired off with the absolute insanity of huge portions of the book!

Finally, the portions with Carl’s dad and Warburton as the voice are fabulous!
