Overall the story was good, just not great. You will have to suspend your common sense as the characters make mistake after mistake that I think anyone with a bit of common sense would do. Not leaving a guard when sleeping or at a meeting is just stupid. Lots of fun play that you have to wonder about. Bad guys miss with long guns but the good guys make hits with pistols? Americans giving up their 2nd amendment and putting g up with traitors in Washington? Lots of things that most people would say “never gonna happen”. Too many of us willing to die in a pile of brass before bending the knee to tyranny.
The narration is superb. I have heard this narrator before in other series. He saved the book for me.
