This series is really entertaining. I bailed out and returned the book on my first attempt because overt discussion of inventory screens and character levels and stats was really breaking immersion in the world. it felt artificial and arbitrary. then I tried a few other LitRPG titles. the author isn’t lazy… he is in an entire genre that throws away some tenants of good writing. the second try, I accepted the crutches and shortcuts of litRPG and really enjoyed the book. if you enjoy the snarky tone and creative problem solving, you will enjoy the book.
