I found the plot and characters entertaining, but they aren’t the typical LitRPG/progression fantasy types. Having read the next two books in the series, the author gets better at balancing the tone, stakes, and, character development. Sometimes the story is goofy-funny, sometimes absurd-funny, sometimes a bit serious, etc.
