pros: I didn’t expect to like this book as much as I did. it’s a raunchy fun read and I found myself looking forward to jumping back in. if you like DND, rpgs, video games and over the top stories you’ll have fun here. donut the cat is amazing. the performances and the voices are stellar, one of the most engaging audio books I’ve listened to in a while! I found it pretty funny but your mileage may vary.
cons: The prose does get pretty repetitive at times, with a very large chunk of the book being descriptions of levels, items, game and system notifications. the achievement jokes were amusing at first but got kind of stale for me. also this book is pretty short and just kind of ends without a big climax or feeling of finality which is kind of weird. I would have liked more of a sense of progression or at least a strong note to end on. it feels like there could easily be 6 more hours of story here. it’s obviously trying to lead into the next book but it feels like the ending of an episode instead of the ending of a season if that makes sense.
