I love CF White and I’ve adored this series! I had reservations about a professor/student relationship, but CF handled it with delicacy. I still have reservations, but it worked for this story and so I was willing to overlook it.
Piers Ryman did an amazing job narrating this novel. He always provides riveting performances and this one was no exception. He brings CF’s words to life in a brilliant way that left me breathless. This thriller delivered.
The book starts in a place I didn’t expect – but one that made perfect sense. Once I got to Kenny and Aaron, I was on firmer ground. The student/professor duo have survived to third year. Now all Aaron has to do is write the perfect thesis. Kenny has to impartially grade it, and then the men are home free.
Or so they believe.
Nothing is ever as it seems for these two, though, and soon trouble is dogging them.
Ghosts from the past are never truly gone – especially ones who still exist in the present day. Past actions come back to haunt the men – even things they weren’t directly responsible for.
A death of someone close brings more questions than answers and threatens the very foundation of the relationship between the two men.
I struggled to just sit back and watch them making mistakes. I wanted to shout at them to get their heads out of their asses. In the end, I sort of got my wish.
I’m not going to give anything else away. The book was amazing and I’m really sorry to see the series end. But I was happy with the eventual resolution.
Like I said at the beginning of the review – Piers’s narration was brilliant. CF’s story was compelling. Definitely a recommend. Hell, the entire series is great!
