Many series fall into two categories: the first book is a slow build up into the more exciting, action-packed, rest of the series, or the second book is the bridge between the first and third. Dungeon Crawler Carl, however, kept the action 100% pedal to the medal through the first two books. There wasn’t even much of a pause at the beginning of this book as the moved to the next floor, and no slowdown of action, progression, and intensity. Character growth through two books is unusually good, and the world building is next level.
