It took a bit for the story and characters to grab me, but it did it in the end. Coming from the DCC books to this was also very jarring (from a story and narration/performance perspective) and though it took a while, I grew to appreciate it by the end. The ending was sweet and leaves on a hopeful note which I appreciated.
