This was difficult to rate. It had some interesting things going for it. Ultimately though, it’s just set up. The book has no climax. No real big pay off. It just sets A LOT of things up, or at least I believe it to be set up as I have not yet read or listened to the other books yet. The pins lined up are interesting and I’m excited to see them knocked down, but it feels like half a book and I don’t feel like I can justify rating it higher than 2.5 stars (average for me).
Like if A New Hope just ends with Han Solo dropping off Leia and Luke at the Rebel base. I guess it’s an ending, but not one that feels worth it. I feel confident these get better.
