I started reading this at 9pm.
It is now 4am.

I have received a notification that my Sleep Schedule has been DESTROYED.
Rarity: Legendary!
I did not ask for this achievement. It has been added to my inventory anyway.

What I do know is that I will never look at my cat the same way again. Or a dungeon. Or, honestly, a staircase. I have questions about staircases now that I did not have before, and I resent that.

This book is aggressively, violently, chaotically funny in the way that makes you laugh out loud alone in a dark room and then feel slightly unhinged about it. If you’ve ever looked at a glowing box and thought I would like to be assessed and ranked by a mysterious system while fighting for my life ….congratulations, this is your roman à clef.

The main character has the energy of a man who has given up on giving up. It’s oddly inspiring. He does not want to be a hero. He would like to not be here. He is, unfortunately, very here. I respect that.

There are multiple moments in this book where I put it down and stared at a wall. Not because it was bad. Because I needed to process what just happened to me emotionally before I could continue.

The world building is insane in the best possible way. It literally is like someone combined a fever dream with a Yelp review section and then said what if we added lore. There’s so much lore. I ate all of it.

The violence is cartoonish and then suddenly isn’t and then IS again and my nervous system has filed a formal complaint.

Do I recommend this? Yes. To everyone. Including people who don’t read. Especially people who don’t read.

Will it destroy your sleep schedule? Irreversibly.

Is the cat worth it? The cat was always worth it.😭

Five stars. I’m already on book two. Send help. Don’t send help…
