As the book goes on, Dan is an increasingly obnoxious character. Cares less and less for anything meaningful, seems to forget entirely about his kids, and cares only about how often he can get stoned out of his mind without any regard to how it might jeopardize those he is supposed to care about. I found myself wishing more and more that he would be killed, everyone around him would have been better off.
