apparently AI means “child who can do math far”

preliminary review, I’m only 1/3 complete but I had to write this. I’m very disappointed so far. I’ll give it another hour or so, but idk if I can finish it.

another author who depicts non-human intelligence as just a human who lacks reason and is good at some technical skill. the most boring depiction.
I can’t stress enough how much the ship is just like a child, in the most annoying ways. why did anyone put the equivalent of a 10 year old in charge of a passenger ship, no matter how good it is at math???

it’s fine to have an AI character that is dumb, ignorant, whiney, petulant, selfish, emotional, and unreliable – but it needs to make sense within it’s own universe.

I also feel like the author has a profound lack of understanding about computers. they just use computer-related words in nonsense ways.

the narration performance is actually pretty good, which is almost a shame. such a waste.
