- Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
- I loved this book. It’s a great story of a wonderful family and a piece of American immigrant history. If you, like me, come from a family of immigrants, you’ll appreciate the back story, even if your family came from a different place.
- Who was your favorite character and why?
- Every character in the book was genuine. I really didn’t have a favorite. I think I’d love them all if I met them in person.
- What does Bill Lord bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
- Bill Lord brought the Glosser family right into my living room, sat down with them, and told me their story. I could almost smell the roasting cashews and peanuts! I wish Glosser’s Department Store was in MY town growing up.
- Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
- The very last chapter of the book, the last customer, was beautiful. The author’s ability to paint a picture with words, and the narrator’s treatment of the passage was poignant and engaging.
