I wanted to love this. I really did. The premise sounded good. But I just didn’t care for Katie. It could have been the narration that made me not care but she really didn’t seem to be much of a person. She talks about moving to the area months ago so her and her husband could open a business and yet she didn’t know any of the shop owners. She didn’t know any of the vendors in her husband’s business and barely knew his partner. She just worked for a boss she didn’t like. There’s an unevenness to the writing… too much descriptions in parts and not enough in others. And the timing of the events seem to be rushed and not how things would happen in real life. Hopefully book two will be better.
