- What other book might you compare Journey to and why?
- There are a plethora of this general type of book. As noted by the author, this one doesn’t feature characters who’ve while mentally prepared and capable. don’t have deep resources stockpiled. The primarily female driven plot is less common as well. In that, regard there are less books of this type.
- What about Kevin Pierce and Becket Royce ’s performance did you like?
- The dual narration was a nice change. Kevin Pierce does his usual bang up job with his half of the story. I am not familiar with Becket Royce, but her voice and style fit well.
- Any additional comments?
- A solid first effort written primarily from a female perspective. The attempt to portray other than white middle class characters is also done well. What is conveyed well is the importance of solid relationships before something bad happens that can translate into a support structure.
The story line is plausible, well handled and by in large the dialogue is well written. The story ends a bit abruptly, even when a sequel is implied in the title.
I look forward to seeing where the author second book will take these characters.
