If you’re interested in forensic science or in cold case detective work, don’t miss this one. It chronicles a group of scientists and law enforcement officers who volunteer their time to search for dead bodies. Their expertise is in finding ways that decomposing bodies change the soil and vegetational.
Surprisingly for the macabre subject matter it is quite funny in places. It held my attention throughout. The only somewhat disappointing chapter — due to real life circumstances, not the writing was the one where the Russians hire them to locate some of the missing Romanov children. Due to the kinds of problems one might expect with the Russians, they weren’t permitted to go through with the work. All in all a terrific read.
