3-3.5 stars

This was a good story. I liked the characters and the story was entertaining. This is the first story I’ve read by this author and I liked it well enough that I’d consider trying more of her work in the future.

Jonas is an artist that is opening an art studio of his own. Jonas has know he’s gay for a long time but when he told his parents at the age of 14, they kicked him out. Jonas ended up in Chicago and experienced some VERY bad times. These times eventually led into better times though and now Jonas is an artist that does well at selling his paintings. Unfortunately, because of the abuse he experienced in the past, jonas doesn’t do relationships.

Mace used to be a cop but now is an assassin. Mace lost his son in a very bad way and it broke Mace. He went into a depression which destroyed his marriage and his relationship with his family. Mace only pulled himself out of his drunken depression when he got the chance to take out criminals that prey on innocents and that’s been his focus ever since.

Cole is an Ex-Navy SEAL that had just left the Navy when he found out about the death of his sister who had been missing for years. Cole’s mother had already passed but Cole’s father didn’t take things well and is now drinking himself to death. Cole went looking for answers and ended up at Jonas’ studio because he found out that Jonas knew his sister and was a witness to her death.

Mace was given an “assignment” by his team and the target was Jonas. Mace was given enough evidence that proved Jonas’ guilt that he should have taken him out right away but something about the situation and Jonas bugged Mace. He decided to observe him for a while even though his boss wasn’t happy about the delay. Mace found himself attracted to Jonas but hates himself for it because of Jonas’ supposed evil actions. Jonas is trying to get his studio in good shape because he wants to have art classes for kids there. He puts an ad in the paper for a handyman and Mace answers. Jonas is unsure of Mace because he senses that Mace doesn’t like him but Mace does something that convinces Jonas he’s ok and Jonas hires him.

Soon after Mace takes the job, Cole comes into the studio to talk to Jonas and keeps coming back. Where Mace knew he was bi, Cole has never had an attraction to a male before. Cole quickly realizes he’s attracted to both Mace and Jonas and works on dealing with that and how he’s going to handle things. All 3 guys have a mutual attraction but things don’t start immediately….the crap has to hit the fan first and it brings some issues because the real reason for Mace being around Jonas is brought out. Thankfully, by the time everything is out, Mace already realized that Jonas wasn’t guilty of the crimes he’d been accused of and it makes things easier (not that they’re very easy anyways). There’s some drama and danger while they work through things and everything is revealed but the situation gets worked out and by the end, Cole, Mace and Jonas are a threesome and heading towards a HEA together.

This was a pretty good story. All 3 of the MCs were pretty good characters…not perfect but their imperfections made them believable. I will admit that the love interest was a bit fast…maybe not insta-love but it was dam close. Also, considering their pasts and experience (or lack thereof), I thought some of the sexual situations seemed a bit quick. These 2 issues weren’t anything major though and didn’t ruin the story for me. Overall, the story was enjoyable and I may read the next book in the series.

* FYI – The narrator did a good job overall but I didn’t really like the way he did Mace’s voice.
