What did you like best about Hotel Megalodon? What did you like least?
Very formulaic plot line. Bad big developer, plucky heroine saves the day…
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Perhaps, it would probably be well suited to a movie. Certainly better than Sharknado.
Any additional comments?
There are a lot of big shark stories out there from Jaws to Meg. Some are great, most are horrid to unreadable. I’m pleased to say that Hotel Megalodon isn’t the latter, but not quite the former.
The plot is the same as just about every disaster/big creature story. Bad developer/scientist stir things up with their money/greed that should best be left alone. Chaos ensues and the plucky hero/heroine issues warnings that are ignored/ridiculed and things fall apart. Inevitably a few people are eaten/die and the bad developer/scientist is trapped with the hero/heroine and tries to kill/dispose of them. Things are eventually resolved by the hero/heroine and the bad developer/scientist is killed/eaten/slinks away in shame while the hero/heroine is vindicated and the disaster/big creature is averted/killed/disappears.
Can’t say that there is much different here. The story is fast paced with little room for detail or explanation. Most of it is a pretty big stretch to believe, but if you go along for the ride, it is entertaining.
