I re-listened to this with its new narrator, Jeffrey Kafer. I have to give him props for performing under the kind of expectations those who fell in love with the original performance by the author, Nathan Lowell, took into this listen. Ultimately, I still prefer the Nathan Lowell version, but those are no longer available, and really how can you compare the original that you fell in love with? In this case, this series is still very highly recommended. It’s the everyman kind of scifi that interests you with a businessman’s train of thought in a trader’s economy imagined in a time where travel between planets is common place. The characters are genuine and lovable, especially our main character, who is forced onto his own with nothing to lose and gains valuable friendships and life lessons.
