- Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
- I absolutely recommend this series to anyone who enjoyed movies like Godzilla and Pacific Rim. You can “see” the action pop off the pages (or in your head as it’s read to you) and the arrival of some characters we’ve seen before in Robinson’s other work was totally thrilling. I’m a total fan girl over this series.
- What did you like best about this story?
- I loved the mix of action, horror elements, and the way these characters are portrayed. I would have liked to see more involvement with some characters that come into play in the third act, but as there is more to this series forthcoming–I won’t have to wait long to see that happen. Fun storytelling!
- What does Jeffrey Kafer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
- Jeffrey Kafer brings a charm to the character of Jon Hudson. When I first heard his voice, it took me a little time to get used to him- as I’d loved narration of RC Bray who did Island 731. But what I quickly came to appreciate is that Jon Hudson as a character isn’t the same man as Mark Hawkins (obviously, I know–but) the “voices” of these two men are similar but not the same. The narrator, Jeffrey Kafer, was able to successfully make me believe that Jon Hudson was his own man. Great job.
- Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
- I don’t want to spoil it– but again, there were two huge scenes that had some characters that I loved from Island 731, show up. I won’t say when or why or how, suffice it to say I was very happy to hear these scenes played out. Can’t wait for more. It’s going to be great.
- Any additional comments?
- These books/audiobooks are fast paced, thrilling, and full of action. It’s like seeing a movie in your head. I highly recommend these to Gozilla/Pacific Rim movie fans! Great job!
