No sophomore slump here. I enjoyed Unexpected World thoroughly. Uncertain world was better. The best series I have read since Zombie Fallout and the Iron Druid Chronicles. Chris Pike grabs the imagination and holds on tight.
Part of the story is written from the perspective of Buster, the dog. I was emotionally involved to the nth degree during those chapters. I was actually gripping my steering wheel and telling the narrator to hurry up. I knew what would eventually happen in regards to Buster early on–but the tension grew as I waited–reminded me of the tension I felt (and still feel) every time I watch the scene in The Abyss –if you’ve seen the movie you’ll know what scene I’m referring to.
Chris Pike is my new favorite author–I eagerly anticipate his next installment.
