This is an original story in the vein of the Dresden Files. But where Harry is an accomplished wizard, Conor has to figure things out as he goes along. Conor is a complex main character who wants to do good but doesn’t quite know all of the things he can do yet. I like that there are so many types of monsters in this book! Necromancers, wizards, werewolves…even some mafia types!
Jeff Hays does his usual brilliant narration and throws in some special effects. He gives each character a distinct voice and sometimes I can’t believe he can do all of the things with his voice that he does when he’s narrating a story.
