- Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
- Yes, most definitely! Neo Noir, creatures of the night, necromancing, Hitman, Heist jobs, underworld going-ons presented from the active imagination of M.R. Forbes and the artistic Jeff Hays. The reference to Sin City in the headline is a very positive one. In both cases, well defined alternate Noir… Love it!
- What did you like best about this story?
- Conor Night, the protagonist for starters. The supporting cast are all memorable for their violence caused damage. lol I was going to say “Not a Stiff in the Bunch” but…. Purpose driven action.
- What about Jeff Hays’s performance did you like?
- The name is Hays. Jeff Hays. There are some great narrators working in the audio book field. Will Patton, Jim Dale, Scott Brick, the late Frank Muller are some.
I suggest that Jeff Hays be considered in that company! His range is second to none. The transitions in the reading, the straight narration changing to interactive, very distinct dialogue. Sound effects like phone conversation, voice on radio or other electronic devices. Top notch. He could read the phone book and make it interesting! - Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
- I woulda if I coulda! it was hard to leave off and do mundane things like eat and sleep!
- Any additional comments?
- This is high on my list of excellent Audible works. Left me wanting more. Thanks once again for the opportunity to listen to and review Dead of Night, Book 1.
