This was my first LitRPG and I didn’t know what RPG was prior to googling it so needless to say, not something I’m normally drawn too. But thanks to a YouTuber suggestion that DCC was the best option for dipping your toe into the genre coupled with very high ratings, I took the dive. I was pleasantly surprised, the first few chapters where difficult for me as the “game stats/rules” (no idea what they are called…) were explained but once I got accustomed to them; the storyline was easy to follow, the characters where fantastic, and the author is a clever, witty chap. The narration was exceptional, perfectly delivered and exactly the right voice for the MC. And bonus, the book listens super well up to 1.5x speed play rate, I mostly listed at 1.4x but was still very clear at 1.5 with virtually no voice distortion! Hysterical book, def recommend and I dare say, I’ll probably continue with the series for the narration and clever writing style.
