I suppose this book would be very entertaining for a gamer. I’m not. So there were numerous times when I nearly stopped listening because I was so annoyed by the stupid story concept—advanced alien civilizations obsessed over violent, morbid gaming casually committing genocide against an entire planet for entertainment? Seriously, any such civilization would surely destroy itself before taking to the stars. That said, the author did a good job with world building and describing the setting and action. And the narration was skillful. However, I won’t listen to any subsequent books in this series. For me, it was a waste of credit and time. I love intelligent science fiction, but this is far from it.
