UPDATE 🎧AUDIOBOOK REVIEW🎧 JANUARY 2025
I’ve already reviewed this story so I’m just going to concentrate on narration right now. Amelia Hugh & Connor Crais did an excellent job with their duet performance. I’ve always enjoyed Connor, and it was no different this time around. Amelia Hugh was new to my ears, and it took some getting used to her cadence and style. She comes across as more of a reader than a performer and that’s not a favorite for me. I did not not enjoy this audiobook because of it, but I wasn’t able to get lost in the story like I normally do. Hopefully the more audiobooks I listen to by her, my ears will become more adjusted. I’m not giving up just yet!
One last little tidbit and this is about the story as a whole. When I read the story, this particular *thing* never even crossed my mind, but with the audiobook, it was glaring in my head! The plot point surrounding Scarlett’s insistence she had to live in the town to prove herself just dragged on and went too far in my opinion. Even when it was glaring obvious that it was at the detriment of her family, she kept “keeping on” as they say, and it took a little of the shine out of the story. It didn’t feel like a natural progression to me, rather like conflict that was dragged for the dramatic effect and … #twitchy *shrug* This is the very reason I love to play the “which format may or may not be better” game 🙂 because you just never know how things will hit you in a book and reading and listening can completely change your perspective on a dime! I wouldn’t go as far as to say one is better than the other in this case but maybe … (lol)
eBook Review October 2024
I am completely and irrevocably smitten with Royals Gone Rogue and Erin Nicolle! Some of you are probably wondering what took me so long to be smitten by her since she’s Erin Nicholas, who’s been publishing fantastic stories since like forever! Amirite? You’re wondering? Well, it’s because it seems like a million years ago since I read her so it’s all fresh and new and fridiculously fantastic!! But I digress … about Rags to Royals …
First of all, I’m pretty sure I laughed out loud thru most of the story! The story was flirty and charming and entertaining and also emotional! It was all the things people! ALL OF THEM! I am so hyped over it that I can’t wait to get it in my ears! I really like the choices Erin made for not just the characters but also the storyline. I liked that it wasn’t easy peasy for Cian to waltz into Scarlet’s life and convince her he’s the one. He had to work it and it was so devastatingly swoony and also moving and heartfelt. It felt very real and relatable even though he’s a royal. Feel me? I love that Cian and Mariah were a team and her character wasn’t written in the typical nonconformist way teenagers are mostly portrayed. She was on #TeamCian and helped every step of the way! *heart eyes*
I don’t want to say anything else for fear I might let slip a circumstance in the story that will spoil it for you because you should really experience everything about not just this story but this series with fresh eyes and a blank brain. LOL It’s how I have experienced it from the very beginning, and I have never been more captivated and in love with a whole lot of fictional people like I am with every single character, including the sketchy ones, in this huge circle! I should really get my act together and read more of Erin’s work because my kindle says I own *whispers* 30 of them shsssss! Lol
