A lot of series I read start to fall apart towards the later books but not this one. Cooley has built a world and characters that continue to fascinate throughout. I never find my mind wandering when I’m listening. While I believe the narrator does an overall good job giving life to this story his misprounounciation of some words makes me a little crazy. The characters words don’t always match the narration. For example, at one point he sort of shouted a word then read “she hissed”, and I was like wait what? It didn’t necessarily not make sense for her to have said it the way he did but it would have made more sense had he stuck to doing what the narration said. None of this makes me not want to listen to the book but it does create some hiccups if you’re like me and get immersed in the world. You periodically get jolted back to reality really quickly. Also, I think the first few books or one of the books had a different narrator? And he reads a few of the characters significantly differently. Overall it is very very good though.
