I jumped into this story without reading the blurb. So I didn’t what I was getting myself into. I did read Charlie Sunshine, the previous book in the series, but I connected with After Charlie more.

Felix and Max’s lust-at-first-sight vibe when they first met totally grabbed me and I was along for the ride. I enjoyed Felix’s snark and banter, Max gave as good as he got. They both have a great sense of humor, which made them real. I loved them together.

I had an inkling that the honeymoon period would fade because this is a romance novel and the main characters’ relationship started as a random hook-up. But I didn’t expect it to hurt so much, I felt for Felix and cheered when he got himself out of that situation.

I didn’t know about the two parts of the story, again I went into this book not knowing anything. So I was curious to see how Max would worm his way back into Felix’s life. Thank goodness it wasn’t within months of the separation but interesting nonetheless.
The second part made Max slightly more interesting to me. He opened his eyes to what his actions were telling us from the beginning. Felix also warmed my heart because he wasn’t convinced by Max’s graveling but he rather understood that Max loved him from the start.

It might seem like I said too much but this story is more about the journey than anything else, and besides, there’s a lot more to discover and experience reading this book.
