This is it, this whole series really, but perhaps this book in particular. First off, the production blows every single other audio book I’ve ever listened to out of the water, it’s incredible. The narration is perfect, each character is given such a fitting and unique voice that you know who’s speaking before they’re named, Jeff Hays once again knocks it out of the park. There are effects given to the voices for different circumstances, more so than the previous books in the series. And the little fills, for lack of a better term, really pull you into it. But all of that pales in comparison to the story, the narrative, the characters, and the world. Just like the previous books, it’s insane to the point of comedy, but brutally personal and grounded when it counts. The characters feel real and grounded, and all of them, even the comic relief, are well written and interesting. It’s hilarious, it’s ridiculous, it’s gut wrenching and deeper than anything this Isekai ripoff of a genre deserves. Nothing in this category comes close. But honestly, I know I’m wasting my time, if you’re reading this you’ve likely already listened to the others in the series, I doubt I need to convince you.
