So here is the thing, I was avoiding this book. I didn’t like the title, cover, or the description that much. However, every fantasy and literature reddit I found raved about this series. So I thought, why not I will try it and return it if I hate it……….I finished it in under three days. This book is freaking amazing. It is for anyone with a sense of humor that has played a video game before.
The premise is ridiculous, but the story makes it work. It leans into the zanies and craziness. There are hysterical jokes around every corner from the 80’s style game announcer to the crazy monsters. Despite all the funny, it also hits the emotional parts well and dives into what people would actually do in this scenario. It is easily one of the most creative books I’ve read and the author is magnificent. The voice actor is also phenomenal. He makes this book even more fun with his range of fun voices.
Read this! Just read it! Forget the cover, Forget the title. This book is fun! Go in as blind as you can and enjoy your trip down insanity. I’m getting the rest of the series now and can’t wait to see what happens.
