So…3/4 of the way through. Bottom line is that she f****d 2 of his friends (1 she married, 1 she had an affair after widowhood) & did it in front of him, never once sought to speak to the supposed “love of her life,” & does it still knows he cares about her. Frankly, she’s a vicious cold hearted b***h. He’s WAY too good for her. Not romantic at all, and the so-called “true love” is wholly unbelievable. She’s just an awful person: a liar, a martyr, someone without character, emotionally abusive, vainly taking advantage of his love to selfishly do whatever she wants. God did I hate this story. The other storyline from books in this series had more believable connection & affection…more of a comedy of errors with the misaligned love stories. This one seems just sad & despicably unbalanced. Hero is caring, honest, & shows up. Heroine is fickle, convinced she can control her family & his herself, and self-involved as both a martyr & a manipulator. Ugh.
