I got the book because I like Jeff Hays narrating. Outside of the voice actors performances, I did not like this book at all. It took until chapter 12/13 before I thought there might be something I’ll enjoy. By chapter 20 I should have requested to return it but for a three book series I really wanted to give it a chance. I listened to the entire thing and the entire time I was thinking “I can’t wait for this book to be over so I can move on”.
Pros: The story is unique. The world and progression is unique. The voice actors did wonderful.
Cons: At no point could I relate to the main character. If being a 15 year old human trapped in an ants body with all of your previous memories doesn’t sound appealing, I’d skip it. There are points in the book that go into a little detail about other characters that I found more interesting than the entire journey of the main character. Other characters that are written about are interesting but then go nowhere. One of my biggest gripes is how he treats and described his pets.
TLDR; skip this one.
