I gave up. The characters were, as others have commented, very stereotyped.
The story was slow and didn’t grip me. I didn’t warm to any of the characters either.
And the narration was boring with very poor accents. One character who was supposed to be Glaswegian, (my daughter lives in Glasgow so I do know a Glaswegian accent when I hear one!) sounded Irish. Very poor imo and I’m afraid I won’t be reading or listening to any more Fenella Sallow books
