This one was harder to read because I have some trauma that is partially related to an alcoholic parent and trauma experience when young. So this one I felt personally.

This is when the series really takes itself seriously. we have a very real mother dealing with trauma and alcoholism now having to deal with a conspiracy that may set them all free or get them killed. the heaviness and the realness of the characters hits hard in this book. Upon finishing, I am desperate to finish this trilogy once and for all.

My only warning to other readers that there is a pretty graphic and horrifying part near the end. Rick Griffin unknowingly has a fantastic hand at wwriting thriller and high stress scenarios. the moment was fantastic but wow the horror of that scene lives rent free in my head…

in a good way, mind.
