It’s too bad James P Cronin, a SAG-AFTRA actor, began the first book wonderfully, and Gary Bennett narrated the second book poorly. It sounded like Bennett was just reading, rather than acting, and that totally ruined a perfectly fine story. Bennett modulated his voice a lot, but you could tell he was just reading and not feeling it. Bennett seems like he could narrate children’s stories OK, but he didn’t do well acting out this intense and scary story.
