I listened to the audiobook version of this novel, and I have to say, Mary Phillips absolutely nailed it! Her narration was funny, expressive, and full of life, adding so much charm and depth to the story. She really brought the characters to life and made the experience thoroughly enjoyable.

As for the story, Lady Elizabeth Burghley is a strong-willed, artistic heroine who sometimes tested my patience, but in a way that made her feel real. Tom, the rugged Scottish gamekeeper with a creative soul, was instantly lovable, patient, kind, and magnetic. Their chemistry was electric, and their moments together were full of passion and heart.

The twists in the story kept things interesting, and I found myself rooting for them even when things got complicated. It’s a beautifully written historical romance with humor, desire, and just the right amount of tension. Definitely worth the listen, especially with a narrator like Mary Phillips at the helm!
