I’m a disabled vet who has a lot of time to read. This is one of my favorite purchases of all time from Audible. At the beginning of the book I was saying to myself “this is an interesting premise, but it’s bound to be as shallow as every other military / prep series I’ve read… so I’ll just enjoy what I can of it.” It was good, but as the story unfolded, I started to listen closer. I realized that there was a depth and battle wisdom to this story I didn’t anticipate. Just when I thought it was going one ‘typical direction’ it combined 3 arcs into one and became something more than I hoped for. This is superb literature, unique human insight, and a cautionary tale all wrapped into one well told story. This author goes to the top 5 of my author watch list.
