I really enjoyed the story and the narration. The story is well formed and has a good pace. It handles some of the challenges we will all face. However, the editing has some glaring flaws. In the story one of the characters has a hand injury and it is integral to the story and either the reader made a mistake multiple times or the book itself has an enormous error. When they are talking in detail about the hand injuries he says metatarsal multiple times. A very simple anatomy lesson teaches us that the metatarsal is in the feet. Not the hands. The hands are metacarpals. I know it seems silly for this to bother me so much… but someone who makes a living off of their hands should know metacarpals. I think what makes the error worse is the amount of authority the character has as he tells the list of his injuries. It just makes the error more egregious. I listen to over 300 books a year so I know there are plenty of editing misses in books. But when something is so integral to the story I guess I just hope more care would be taken towards accuracy. Overall, I enjoy Ms. Davis’s stories.
