I lifelong baseball fan, I’ve often been perplexed about the dramatic evolution in the role of the starting pitcher. This well-written engaging tome delves deep into the health risks young prospects take by constantly throwing heat and the financial risks teams take by banking that their emerging stars–or big-name free agent–acquisitions won’t suddenly break down. It also confronts how the perceived panacea of Tommy John surgery may be contributing to an epidemic of arm injuries. I thoroughly enjoyed the content The Arm and the excellent well-paced narration.
