Over and over it seems authors seek to spread a story into multiple books right from the start so they write the first one as an “intro” to the characters. You’re forced to spend a credit or cash on a half story.
Also, this is not progression fantasy when the main character is already MAXed on every stat. He doesn’t grow at all in this book. It also leads to a lack of tension. I was never worried anyone in the party would die.
At least end the story in a compelling way. I wasn’t compelled. I won’t be continuing this series.
The narrator, JTJ, is fantastic and the SBT cast were stellar as any SoundBooth production would be.
