I love the post-apocalyptic genre. This story had a lot of promise. When the main character made fun of Christians, treated “weak” women as less than, and seemed to value redneckery, I kept reading thinking maybe it was just this character and he would come around.
Now, another set of characters is talking about the people living in a trailer park in their town being dangerous just because they live in a trailer park and a female character is thinking that a poor woman with bad teeth asking her if they have any food to spare is someone “used to living on handouts” and not willing to do any work. WTAF. So poor people deserve to be poor? Most poor people do have disabilities, you idiot. And I don’t mean being “fat” which the author also calls her. I can’t take it another second – I’m returning this.
If you are a redneck Trumpy, you will LOVE these people.
I rarely don’t finish a book. I have never stopped listening part way through a book in this genre. It’s that bad.
