first book was slow, and short, but peaked my interest enough to continue. But it ended up just being a super watered down version of a societal collapse seemingly written by a Democrat that thinks a shot gun and revolver with 100 extra rounds makes you a gun toting republican, and an AR15 with a thousand rounds makes you ready for war. 5.11 brand clothes are basically military uniforms that make you stand out like a sore thumb, instead of just being ordinary cargo pants that are made a little heavier duty. the main character spends years prepping, gathering food, weapons, and training… but is too childish and embarrassed to stock up on tampons for his wife and daughter, is too embarrassed to even say the word tampon out loud. I’ve made it through the 4th book but all 4 could have actually just been 1 book since they’re so short. but even then it just doesn’t seem like its going anywhere. there’s no real struggle or learned lessons. all just one lucky coincidence after another that benefits the main characters.
