The author did a great job on many levels with this book: solid character development, making you feel for these characters, and touching on some really difficult subjects with sensitivity and honesty. I’ve had this audiobook in my wish list for a couple years now, and I’m not sure why I waited so long to purchase it. If you love the ‘something like…’ books, you’ll definitely like this as well. As other reviewers have mentioned, the volume levels are definitely off between the two narrators, but that didn’t bother me too much, I just had to keep adjusting the volume. For those who don’t know, Joel Froomkin is also Joel Leslie, who usually doesn’t resonate with me, but I thought in this particular character his somewhat-shaky-sounding voice worked ok. At the end, I wanted to hear more about the next chapter in their lives, but was also satisfied with the resolution of both their traumas. Solid work and very meaningful. I hope there are many gay teens who get to read it, as I never had anything like this to connect to when I was growing up.
