This was an enjoyable and fun book packed with information about daily life in Ancient Egypt around the time of the early New Kingdom, reign of Amenhotep II. The lives of the characters are interconnected with stories that highlight their roles in society, relationships, food, clothing, and habits, within the broader historical setting. Hippos, crocodiles, baboons, cats and snakes also play important roles in the 24 hours. The tales of the old soldier, the priest, the jeweler, the brick maker and the tomb robber were particularly memorable.
