I only started this series because my brother recommended it to me. I finished the Jim Butcher Dresden’s Files and felt lost waiting for the next novel to come out. I wasn’t able to finish The hunger games because it got pretty dark in my opinion and I feel like this series is similar in its fundamental game capacity with others watching the destruction and devastation of creatures they view lesser than them.
This series is so creative and is written in a way that feels like I’m watching a movie because of how the author has described its characters and setting. Princess Doughnut is a great comedy relief when things get too dark for me and a little too gory. And I love the addition of Katya and her evolution over the book.
I find it difficult to pace myself and not bing the series, because I know more books are to come but I hate waiting! I am so happy my brother recommended this series … he did so, for years before I finally decided to bite the bullet and buy the audiobook.
I am going to make a tank top that says Carl’s catch phrase of Damn it Doughnut and my favorite mantra of his, you will not break me, f*** them all.
