The book is extremely well written. The narrator is also genuinely the perfect guy for the job. This book covers how regular policemen would later become extremely ruthless killers that would personally destroy thousands upon thousands of Jews. As a military man myself, seeing how Leaders failed and continually forced their men into terrible situations, it is saddening to hear. Chapter 7, in particular, where much of this starts is the most difficult chapter in this book.
I could write about this all day, but I’ll just say this – it is a must read both for history understanding and also to understand how ordinary people like you and I can be pushed to become the worst types known to man.
