I am having trouble finding anything positive to say about this book. The story reminded me of something written by one of my high school creative writing students. Very sophomoric. Very predictable. Very basic. Everything from the lack of character building to the inability to build a relationship between the characters before they are “in love” and between the sheets. No such thing as a “slow burn” with this book. Just like you’d expect from hormonal teenage writing, the characters go from typical “hero saves the girl” to the bedroom in less than a chapter or two. I felt as if the author was more anxious to write about bedroom scenes than build credible characters with depth and clarity.
Then there’s the narrator. I’m not sure why he was selected to narrate the novel, but I can’t imagine it was because of his skill. I found myself rolling my eyes one too many times at his interpretation of how he felt the characters should sound. It was a cross between insulting and insufferable.
Save your time and money by skipping this one. Perhaps by the time the author graduates high school he or she will have built up enough of a vocabulary and writing skills to get into college and continue learning how to write. Clearly, not e
