I’m not usually into post apocalyptic books and prefer fantasy but this popped up on sale for only a few bucks. It was an omnibus so thought I would try it. I’m so glad I did! It’s well written and the narration is spot on. This one kept me up at night and made me think about what I might do if or when this really happens. Now, I read to get away from real life, which is why I love pure fantasy, but I really think that sometimes it’s not a bad idea to keep in mind things, like the subject of this book, can actually happen. A solar flare like this is seriously possible, and just like being prepared for a hurricane where we have to go without power for two to three weeks, or more, it wouldn’t hurt to have some idea a of plan in mind for a much longer period. This story made me laugh, cry and above all, made me think. We don’t need aliens or war for an apocalypse. It can happen for so many other reasons, and this book does a wonderful job of describing the human experience of such a possibility. It will bring out every emotion and will literally keep you on the edge of your seat. You might even learn a few things you never even thought about. I know I sure did!
