Major spoilers!!!:
I absolutely loved this series to begin with. Right up until the end of Grey’s book. Everyone wanted to constantly remind him that they were a family all the while disregarding him and treating Shadow like garbage. I hate that Shadow was treated so horrifically from the very beginning but Jake and Laurant were never treated like they were monsters or creatures or didn’t belong there. Not to the extent of Shadow. And when Grey needed his supposed “family”, nobody cared. So, of course he had to take matters into his own hands, and him and shadow were disgustingly punished for it. They never should have been punished! I loved Beast and Laurant in the first book but by the last, I could not stand them. The absolute selfishness and disregard for Grey’s needs that Laurant showed disgusted me. Not only did he get to live happily ever after with the man he loved but instead of helping Grey achieve the same he used the only available ruby for his own selfish desires. The only reason I listened to the final book was find out what happened with Baal but I would have actually liked the book if it wasn’t in Laurants pov. Would have been 5 stars but not after the end of Grey and Shadow. Not to mention the sudden ending of their story with no happy conclusion like every other couple got. That was bogus.
